V červenci publikoval na Lupě její šéfredaktor Aleš Miklík článek, ve kterém navrhuje sestavení společného etického kodexu pro internetová média. S tím souhlasí např. Tomáš Bella, šéfredaktor webového vydání slovenského deníku SME, který uvádí řadu sporných otázek, které by mohl kodex ošetřit.

Není porušením etiky, když na webu cituji jen uvedením názvu média? Neměl bych povinně použít i hypertextový odkaz a poslat své čtenáře ke konkurenci? Tradičný etický kodex žádá zveřejnění oprav „na stejném místě“ jako původní text. Kde to místo najdu na webu? Mohou redaktoři vystupovat na webu, např. v diskusích, i anonymně? Mohu odkazovat na jakýkoli web, i když si to jeho majitel nepřeje? Nejsou neetické reklamní kontextové odkazy ve zpravodajských článcích?

Do polemiky s Tomášem Bellou v Literárních novinách se pustil Martin Malý, autor služby bloguje.cz, známý na českém Internetu také pod pseudonymem Arthur Dent. Svoje odmítavé stanovisko ke společnému kodexu (pozor, nikoli k případným kodexům jednotlivých redakcí) podrobně vysvětluje na svém osobním blogu Misantropův zápisník.

V době, kdy se články redaktorů renomovaných web titulů hemží hrubkami, běžně se publikují fakta bez ověření z více zdrojů a v tištených médiích se stále objevuje Zdroj: Internet, potřebujeme takové polemiky jako sůl. Doporučuji každému, koho jen trochu zajímají pravidla (nejen internetové) žurnalistiky.
